Kevelaer Volunteer Fire Brigade

As in many parts of Germany, fire protection in Kevelaer is not provided by a professional fire department but by the volunteer fire department.

The fire department has numerous tasks. In addition to extinguishing fires, it helps with accidents, natural disasters and many other emergencies. The Kevelaer volunteer fire department comprises five fire engines in the town and the villages. Men and women from Kevelaer volunteer with the volunteer fire department to ensure the safety of their fellow citizens.

However, membership of the volunteer fire department is not just about operations, but is characterized by camaraderie, community, helpfulness and social responsibility. The tasks involved in defensive and preventive fire protection can only be successfully accomplished as a team. Volunteer fire departments offer an active community life and are an important factor in shaping public life in their respective districts.

In the youth fire department, young people are prepared at an early age to join the fire department. They are also offered an attractive leisure program as part of the general youth work.
