Parking in Kevelaer
To make it easier for visitors to Kevelaer to find cheap or free parking zones, the administration has developed a temporary, analog parking guidance system that identifies the various tariff zones. This week, the Kevelaer building yard has also affixed "Ps" in traffic light colors to all parking signs indicating parking spaces in the city. Additional construction fence banners at the entrances to Kevelaer explain the symbols.
There are three different tariff and parking zones in Kevelaer. These are each represented by a "P" in the three traffic light colors:
- The red "P" indicates tariff zone 1, which includes the Rathaus parking lot and the An der Basilika I parking lot. Here you pay 2 euros per hour for the 1st and 2nd hour.
- The yellow "P" indicates the parking spaces in tariff zone 2. This includes the Friedenstraße, Kardinal-von-Galen Straße, Bleichstraße and Ladestraße parking lots. In tariff zone 2 you pay 1 euro per hour for the 1st and 2nd hour and from the 3rd hour you can buy a day ticket for 3 euros.
- The green "P" indicates the free parking spaces in the city. Some of these are managed with the parking disk, such as the parking spaces at the Konzert- und Bühnenhaus and the cemetery. The Kroatenstraße, Wember Straße, Schulzentrum, Sportzentrum and Solegarten St. Jakob parking lots as well as the four Park&Ride parking lots at the train station, the Am Schenken parking lot and the parking lots at the outdoor pool are free of charge. The Europaplatz parking lot is for buses and motorhomes. The private parking lots Antwerpener Platz and Bury St. Edmunds-Straße are also subject to parking disk regulations. The parking lot at the Luxemburger Galerie is accessible through a barrier and is only free of charge for one hour.
- The normal blue "P "s usually indicate several parking spaces and therefore could not be assigned to any other color.
- The "P" on the Friedensstraße / Basilika I sign is yellow and red.
The parking spaces and the corresponding tariff zones are shown on the city map and displayed in the respective traffic light colors. As part of the installation of the new digital parking guidance system, the parking spaces will also be renamed. The future parking lot names are also shown on the map.
The planned digital parking guidance system is expected to be in place by the end of 2024.
