Company visit

Visit to the Janßen Group in Twisteden

The nursery is now a medium-sized company in its third generation and has focused on renewable energies in addition to the production of pot plants and young plants. Both the parents and the youngest generation of Janßens are active in the company.

Hubert, Raphael and Marek Janßen gave Dr. Dominik Pichler a tour of the new greenhouses and office buildings. With a team of 65 permanent employees, they launched the so-called "generation project" at the end of 2022: around 80% of the old greenhouses were demolished and replaced by 2.5 hectares of new greenhouses with modern technology. The total greenhouse area is now approx. 5.5 ha. A new office building and an installation hall of 4,500 m² were also added. A 450 kWp photovoltaic system, heat pumps and charging systems were also installed. The Janßen Group's aim is to cover its own energy requirements as sustainably and efficiently as possible. The "generation project" is therefore an investment in the future of the company, its workforce and future generations in order to meet the increasing quality demands of customers and (future) employees.

After the tour, there was a little time to talk about current issues in Kevelaer and Twisteden in a relaxed atmosphere. Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler provided insights into administrative processes and was able to answer open questions. "I was happy to accept the Janßen family's invitation. It was an interesting and pleasant exchange," he says, summarizing the meeting.
