For example, another section of the pool liner in the non-swimmers' pool was replaced by the pool association's technical team. This first required extensive work on the bottom of the pool before the new liner could be applied. After the 2024 outdoor pool season, the rest of the liner in the non-swimmers' pool will be replaced. The pool association has purchased new play equipment for toddlers and for the water playground. Various painting works and the commissioning of the technical facilities ensure that nothing stands in the way of the opening in mid-May.
Events at the outdoor pool
This year, the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer is once again planning numerous events in the outdoor pool together with the pool association. There will once again be a pool party on 18.08. and an evening swim in late summer. The dog swim on 22.09. after the outdoor pool season will also take place again.
During the summer vacations, the museum will once again be represented with the "Museum goes to Freibad" series of events and Atempause with aqua gymnastics activities in the outdoor pool.
The DLRG local group Kevelaer celebrates its 90th anniversary on 07.09.2024 in the outdoor pool. Further information on the individual events will follow.
New admission prices for the outdoor pool from the 2024 season:
The one-way ticket for adults now costs 5 euros (previously 3 euros), children and young people between the ages of 4 and 17 continue to pay 2 euros for a one-way ticket. What is new, however, is that admission is now only free for children up to and including the age of three (previously children up to and including the age of five). The after-work rate (from 6 p.m.) has also been increased from 2 euros to 2.50 euros.
The outdoor pool is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00. In bad weather, the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer may restrict the opening hours to between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. This year, the outdoor pool will be reliably open on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm in (almost) all weather conditions.
