Around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Kevelaer and Twisteden libraries provide their users with barrier-free access to electronic media in the form of eBooks, eAudios, radio plays and eMagazines in addition to the local media offer. In December 2014, they were two of 20 Catholic public libraries from the dioceses of Osnabrück, Münster and Paderborn to launch the "libell-e" online lending service under the auspices of the Borromäusverein in Bonn. With a valid user ID and a personal password, a wide range of e-media can be browsed, borrowed and downloaded to a desired end device (PC, e-reader, smartphone, laptop, tablet) via the platform www.libell-e.de or the eLibrary app. As use is no longer possible after the specified loan period, there are no late fees.
Starting with just over 2,500 titles, including around 310 eAudios and four e-magazine subscriptions in December 2014, the stock has now grown to over 11,700 titles (13,800 copies) on its 10th anniversary. The largest share is made up of eBooks (both fiction and non-fiction) with over 11,000 copies, around 2,400 eAudios and 60 eMagazine subscriptions complete the range. Twice a month, the stock is expanded with current new publications (insofar as the publishers offer licenses for lending), each worth around 1,200 euros. In order to keep the waiting time for frequently requested e-media to a minimum, additional backlog copies are purchased every week. This generous purchasing behavior is only possible thanks to the association, in which each of the now 28 affiliated libraries contributes to building up the stock.
If you have not yet taken advantage of this great offer, please contact the Kevelaer or Twisteden libraries. The annual fee for both libraries also includes use of the libell-e online library.
You are very welcome, even if you don't live in Kevelaer or Twisteden!
