Christmas campaign

Letters to the Christ Child

The "Letters to the Christ Child" campaign has been part of the pre-Christmas program in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer for many years. This cherished tradition brings the magic of Christmas into the hearts of the little ones and ensures bright eyes and Christmas anticipation. Children from near and far have the opportunity to send their wishes, dreams and loving messages to the Christ Child. "These letters are more than just wish lists - they are an expression of children's imagination and anticipation of Christmas," says Verena Rohde, Business Development Manager and Head of Kevelaer Marketing. That's why all children are cordially invited to send their Christmas mail to the Christ Child again this year.

Personal answer from the Christ Child

For many families, taking part in this campaign is an integral part of their Christmas preparations. What makes it so special is the personal response that each child receives. The Christ Child takes the time to respond to the children's wishes and send them a happy Christmas message. The lovingly designed reply letters make the little ones' eyes light up and shorten the wait until Christmas.

Special letterboxes for special requests

From November 29, 2024, the red letterboxes will once again be waiting to be filled with lovingly designed letters from children in front of the Tourist Information Office on Peter-Plümpe-Platz and in the Forum Pax Christi, where the nativity scene market takes place. Every letter posted there by December 22, 2024 will receive a personal reply from the Christ Child. The wish lists can also be sent by post to the Christkind at the town hall, Peter-Plümpe-Platz 12 in 47623 Kevelaer. To ensure that every child receives a reply to their letter, the Christkind asks that they state their first name, surname and full address legibly. This is the only way for every reply letter to reach its destination.

Send your wish list to the Christ Child by e-mail

Thanks to digitalization, it is also possible to send wishes and dreams to the Christ Child quickly and easily by email. "This modern addition should give even more children the chance to express their Christmas wishes, no matter where they are," emphasizes Annika Manthey, who works in Kevelaer Marketing. And this is how it works: simply write a wish list with all your Christmas wishes and then send it by email to christkind@kevelaer.de. If you wish, you will also receive the answer in digital form. However, it is also possible to receive the reply letter in the traditional way by post. To do this, simply include your full name and address in the e-mail. The Christ Child is already looking forward to receiving lots of lovely letters and emails and is eagerly awaiting the wishes of children from near and far.
