Since May of this year, the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer has set up a temporary bus arrival point for pilgrims and tour groups on the street "Am Bahnhof". In order to make waiting for the bus and the route between the town center and the bus stop more pleasant, especially for older people, the town is planning to purchase eight new town benches. These will not only be installed at the bus stop, but also on Bahnstraße, Marienpark and Antoniusstraße. At the bus stop itself, the benches will probably be placed between the trees and not on the sidewalk.
The additional city benches are to be procured quickly and the contract will be awarded by mid-October. Depending on delivery times, the benches could be installed this year or in January 2025. The project is to be financed by the ZIO (sustainable inner cities and town centers) funding program.
