With effect from Sunday, December 22, 2024, all measures in connection with the restricted zone for the avian influenza outbreak in Kleve have been lifted. There are therefore no longer any restrictions in the designated restricted zone. However, the veterinarians of the district of Kleve continue to ask all poultry farmers to remain vigilant, regardless of the size of the flock.
Particularly in the case of free-range systems, it must be ensured that the animals are not fed outside and that biosecurity measures (e.g. housing) can be taken. The aim is to prevent contact with wild birds that could be carriers of the virus. Especially in the Lower Rhine region - due to the natural conditions and the currently large wild bird population - these are precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
