European elections to the 10th European Parliament on

The election to the 10th European Parliament will take place on June 9, 2024. Members of the European Parliament are elected every 5 years in the European elections. In Germany, 96 MEPs are elected. Every eligible voter has one vote with which they can vote for a party or other political association.

Anyone who is eligible to vote on election day

  • has reached the age of 16 and
  • is entered in a voters' register,
  • for at least 3 months
    a) in the Federal Republic of Germany or
    b) in the other Member States of the European Union

occupies an apartment or is otherwise habitually resident,

  • EU citizens living in Germany must decide whether they want to vote at their place of residence in Germany or in their home country.

You can only vote if you are registered on the electoral roll or have a polling card.

All eligible voters who are registered for a (main) residence at the registration office on the cut-off date (28.04.2024) are registered ex officio.

Eligible voters who are entered in the electoral roll will receive an election notification by 19.05.2024 at the latest.

During the inspection period (20 to 24.05.2024) you can check the accuracy or completeness of your data entered in the electoral roll.

Applications for a polling card/mail-in ballot can be submitted until Friday, June 7, 2024, 6 p.m.

It is expected that you will be able to vote directly by postal vote from 06.05.2024 at the Citizens' Service of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, Peter-Plümpe-Platz 12, during the following opening hours:

Mondays and Tuesdays

09:00 - 17:00

Wednesdays

09:00 - 12:30

Thursdays

09:00 - 18:00

Fridays

09:00 - 12:30

Saturdays

10:00 - 12:30 a.m.

Please bring your polling card and/or your identity card with you.

If you would like to have postal voting documents sent to you, you can apply for them online using the following link, or fill in the application on the back of the election notification and send it back to the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer.

Please only fill in the form if you do not want to or cannot cast your vote at a polling station on election day.

Please apply for postal voting documents in good time due to the postal routes.

The collection of registration certificates on behalf of another person is only permitted if the right to receive them is proven by written authorization.

In the event of proven sudden illness, postal vote applications can be submitted until Sunday, 09.06.2024, 15:00.
The postal vote documents (red election letter) must be received by the election officer by 18:00 on election day, 09.06.2024 at the latest.

Anyone who has a polling card may vote in the election in constituency 112 Kleve by casting their vote in any polling district of this constituency or by postal vote.

Removals in the period from 29.04. to 19.05.2024

If you move within the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, you will retain your right to vote in your old constituency.

If you move from another city or municipality in the period from 29.04. - 19.05.2024, you will only be entered in the electoral roll upon application or objection if you do not wish to vote in your previous municipality of residence.
