Citizen buses
In Kevelaer, there are a total of four citizen bus routes that supplement the local public transport services and thus offer Kevelaer residents greater mobility. The citizen bus routes connect the villages of Kervenheim, Winnekendonk, Wetten and Twisteden with the center of Kevelaer. It is also possible to travel to Sonsbeck via Winnekendonk.
The minibuses for a maximum of eight passengers are driven exclusively by volunteer drivers. They operate six days a week on predetermined routes at set times. You can download the timetables and routes further down on this page.
Barrier-free
Thanks to the low-floor technology, passengers can board without barriers, take a rollator with them and even travel with a wheelchair (except electric wheelchairs) thanks to the fold-out ramp. This means that older or disabled people in particular benefit from the service. However, the target group also includes, for example, parents with baby carriages or children who want to visit their playmates in other parts of the town on the community bus. True to the motto of the citizens' bus associations "Citizens drive citizens".
Fares
A special citizens' bus fare applies to the citizens' buses. Tickets from other transport associations or the Deutsche Bundesbahn are not recognized. However, the "49-Euro Ticket" can currently also be used on the public bus.
Tickets can only be purchased on the bus.

Volunteering
What would the community bus concept be without its volunteer drivers? Not much more than a good idea!
Anyone with a class B or old class 3 driving license is welcome to get involved in the driving service. For further information, please contact the municipal utility company on 02832 9313-10. We look forward to hearing from you!
