Correct ventilation in winter

Regular ventilation is important for the quality of indoor air - and for your health. That's why it's important to ventilate regularly, even in the cold season. But how can you do this without the room cooling down too much?

The most important rule during the heating period is to ventilate several times a day instead of permanently tilting the windows! If possible, the windows should be opened completely for a few minutes - five minutes is enough. This allows the air in the room to be exchanged quickly without the walls inside cooling down. Once the windows are closed again, the heating only has to heat the fresh air, not the solid building components. This is much faster and requires significantly less energy. Incidentally, air exchange is even faster and more economical if opposite windows or doors are opened at the same time, creating a draught.

Windows should remain closed at night. The bedroom should also be aired briefly in winter before going to bed and immediately after getting up so that air is exchanged. The heating should be turned off completely when airing the room. That way, no energy is wasted. This is good for the environment and good for your wallet.
