- Seal windows and doors: Draughts are unpleasant. To detect the cause - a leak in windows and doors - you can, for example, slowly move a lit candle or a stick of incense along the seal. The leak is located where the draught becomes visible through a flickering flame or swirling smoke. It is often sufficient to readjust the window sashes slightly or replace the seals.
- Insulate radiator recesses: Radiators are often located in recesses, especially in old buildings. A lot of heat is lost here due to the thinner outer wall. You can improve this by insulating them.
- Keep radiators clear: Make sure that radiators are not covered by furniture, curtains or even paneling. This prevents the warm air from circulating properly. Fluff and dust can also reduce heat dissipation.
- Insulate roller shutter boxes: Roller shutter boxes are draughty weak points even in newer houses, as they usually have very thin walls and are not windproof due to their design. Tailor-made insulation panels and brush seals reduce draughts.
