This year, Stadtwerke Kevelaer and NiersEnergie distributed a total of 266 drinking bottles to children starting school. Wolfgang Toonen, Operations Manager at Stadtwerke Kevelaer, has now handed over the drinking bottles at Overberg Primary School. "It's nice to see that we can make a contribution with our reusable drinking bottles to raise children's awareness of environmental protection at an early age and remind them how important it is to drink enough," he explained in conversation with Mirco Tillmanns, the acting head of Overberg / St. Norbert elementary school. He is delighted with the donation and adds: "Sufficient fluid intake is crucial for blood flow to the brain and therefore for mental performance. Pupils who drink enough can concentrate better and are more attentive in class."
Ideal thirst quencher
Since 2016, the "I-Dötzchen" children at all elementary school in Kevelaer and the villages have received drinking bottles from Stadtwerke Kevelaer and NiersEnergie. It is important to them to encourage children to avoid disposable packaging and waste from an early age. The drinking bottles presented are made of Tritan, a high-quality plastic without BPA and plasticizers. They are odorless and tasteless and leak-proof, even with fizzy drinks. Thanks to their large opening, the containers are easy to fill and simple to clean, for example in the dishwasher.
Ideally, the bottles are filled with fresh drinking water - sustainable, affordable and healthy. Drinking water dispensers are already available at numerous schools in Kevelaer, which were donated by the two local water and electricity suppliers - in some cases in cooperation with Sparkasse Rhein-Maas. The pupils and staff at the Overberg / St. Norbert elementary school in Winnekendonk and Kervenheim will certainly soon be able to refill their drinking bottles at one of these water dispensers. Initial discussions and considerations regarding suitable locations are already underway.
